Baku-Sheki 5 days/4 nights

Day 01. Arrival

  • Meeting of tourists at the Baku airport after Heydar Aliyev.
  • Transfer to the hotel.
  • Accommodation at the hotel.
  • Walking Tour in the Old Town. The Old Town, called Ichari Sheher, extends from the curve of the Baku Bay through the hills behind it. The Old Town is an ensemble of narrow alleys and winding passages neatly bordered with high fortress walls. Low stone walls of Shirvanshahs’ Palace, built in the XV-XVI c.c., grandness of the masonry and inscriptions on the royal chambers, mosques and mausoleums are located within the Old Town.The royal complex contains a domed pavilion, a small two-story palace, courtyards, a royal mausoleum, and a mosque. On the verge of Icheri Sheher the legendary Maiden Tower opens amazing view on the bay.
  • Return to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 02. Baku – Sheki

  • Breakfast at the hotel, check out.
  • Departure to Sheki city
  • Arrival to Shamakhy and short visit of Juma mosque.
  • Lunch in local restaurant.
  • Arrival in Sheki, accommodation at the hotel.
  • Tour in Sheki: Panoramic view to Sheki city, visiting Royal Summer Palace of Sheki Khans (Kings) with magnificent frescos (one of them is 80 feet long) and exquisite stained glass work, Caravanserai, Christian temples: an early-medieval round temple (now – the Museum of National-Applied Creativity) in the warehouse part of the city “Sheki Galasy”,  Sheki History Museum.
  • Dinner in national restaurant.
  • Overnight.

Day 03. Sheki

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to Kish settlement to explore the most ancient surviving in the Caucasus Albanian Christian church, “Mother of Churches of East”, built in the period of stay in the Caucasus of the Holy Apostle Elisha (the original construction of the basilica is assigned to the I-IV centuries.,reconstruction and restoration of the temple took place in VII-IX centuries. and in theXVIII-XX centuries).
  • Lunch at local restaurant with a tasting of food and sweets of Sheki regional cuisine.
  • Free time for shopping.
  • Dinner in national restaurant.
  • Overnight.

 

Day 4 . Sheki – Baku

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Transfer to Lahij settlement.
  • Walking tour to Lahij settlement, one of the beautiful corners of Azerbaijan Republic
  • Lahij is the city typesettlement, situated on the north of the country, on the south slop of the Big Caucasus mountain chain, 1505 m. high above the sea level. Geographical position of the settlement and rich historical architectural andhistorical monuments, crafts, developed among the aboriginal population made Lahij very famous.Tableware and weapon of Lahij masters were in great demand on the whole Caucasus. Today local craftsmen – braziers, curriers, chasers, potters, smiths, incrustations and engravers on metal and wood, carpet-makers continue the work of their ancestors.
  • Lunch in local restaurant.
  • Departure to Baku city.
  • Arrival to Baku, accommodation at the hotel.

Day 5. Baku – Apsheron – Departure

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Tour to Apsheron Peninsula 3- 4 hours (25-40 km. from Baku) The tour includes: visiting Fire mountain Yanardaq, fire worshippers temple Ateshgah and Ethnographical reserve Gala Fire mountain Yanardag. The burning hillside of Yanardag is one of Azerbaijan’s most bizarre sites. From beneath the earth flammable gases seep through the porous sandstone, erupting into flames that can reach 10 metres in height – the flames are never extinguished, been lit accidentally in 1958. Most of the world’s ‘flaming mountains’ are situated in Azerbaijan and Marco Polo recorded similar sights nearby he passed through the region. The temple of fire worshippers Ateshgah is located at the Apsheron peninsula at the outskirts of Surakhani village in30 km from the centre of Baku and was revered in different times by Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs. Ethnographical reserve Gala is located approximately in 40 minutes’ driving fromBakuin Gala village. Historic habitat referred to III thousand B.C. is preserved here. In this museum under the open sky were discovered more than 200 different artifacts – mysterious burial mounds, hearths of ancient settlements, thousands-years old burials.
